Things I never really talk about:

Senior year I was given a scholarship to the tune of 26,000 a year to one of the top schools in the nation, but it was out of state. I turned it down, because I was too afraid to leave home. I had every intention of going. I bought things for my dorm, I had a bus ticket, I had my room assignment, and instead I stayed home, waited until a week into classes to formally withdrawal. Anxiety is life altering, it freaking sucks. I kind of feel ready to try and move out? But it’s just really scary.

I was telling him how much I love his writing and he just seemed so humbled by that, which is amazing to me. He seemed genuinely interested when Zizzy was explaining how much Small Bump means to her. Then I asked him to sign my copy of + and he did, and then he was told that he had to go and we had to get back out front.
